Form 1099 Filing Deadlines

Our Tax2efile team will help you keep track of the filing due dates by sending out notifications via email and on the homepage of our websites. It is important to prepare to file your 1099 Forms online as early as possible to avoid any late penalties and fees. We understand that there are many different due dates for each of the different 1099 Tax Forms. We recommend that you keep track of the due dates under your own will, to avoid any late filings and /or payments.

If you are submitting a 1099-MISC, the tax-exempt interest payments and substitute dividends reportable by brokers are due February 15th. Also, any gross proceeds that are being paid to an attorneys are due on February 15th .

Note:If the due date/deadline falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or federal holiday, the filer will need to E-file on the next business day.

Extension:

If you require additional time to file your 1099 series information return, you may request an up to a 30 day extension through filing Form 8809. This extension option is not available for Form 1099 NEC

Penalties:

Filing your 1099 information returns with the IRS late may result in a $30-$100/Form penalty. Intentionally disregarding 1099 requirements will result in a $250/Form penalty
