When and Who Needs to File Form 8868?

The tax filer needs to file the Form 8868 by the May 15th due date to receive an automatic 6 Months extension to file the Form 990-N. The extension is applicable for Tax Exempt Organizations, Charities and Non-Profit Organizations. If you are a trustee of a trust, you need to file Form 1041-A or Form 5227 so you can use the form 8868 to request the extension to file those returns.
