Alabama State Income Taxes can be prepared and e-Filed along with an IRS or Federal Income Tax Return. All
Alabama residents who earn a minimum of $5,200 (or $10,500 as a married couple) are required to file their
Alabama income tax return. Alabama residents working in a different state must also file their returns. A
citizen of a foreign country who comes to Alabama for work, buys a home, and secures an Alabama state
driver’s license but does not intend to apply for U.S. Citizenship (no matter how long he/she stays), the
individual will be considered to have established domicile in Alabama. Tax Filing Deadline is April 15th.

PART-YEAR RESIDENT:
An individual is considered a part-year resident of Alabama if he/she has moved into or out of the state
during the tax year. Part-year residents need to file for all income higher than $1,500 (or $3,000 if filing
jointly), earned from in the state of Alabama, during the time when you were not a resident. Guidelines have

NON-RESIDENT:
Use Form 40-NR for non-residents and report both your Alabama income and your total income. If you earned
more than $1,500 (or $3,000 married filing jointly) in Alabama, while not a resident, then you need to file
